Obtaining the best freight class can sometimes be challenging. FreightNShipping has a freight class look-up tool on its Quote Page to make classifying the freight shipping class much simpler. If your item is not listed,an estimation of the freight class can be determined by the density. Density is a large factor for figuring out a majority of shipment classification numbers. Other determinations are the value and the fragility of the item being shipped.

Finding the the density:

Multiply Length x Width x Height to get Cubic Inches
Take the Cubic Inches Divide by 1728 to get the total Cubic Feet
Then take the weight of your shipment and divide it by the Cubic Feet to get the density.

Less than 1 = Class 500
1 but less than 2 = Class 400
2 but less than 3 = Class 300
3 but less than 4 = Class 250
4 but less than 5 = Class 200
5 but less than 6 = Class 175
6 but less than 7 = Class 150
7 but less than 8 = Class 125
8 but less than 9 = Class 110
9 but less than 10.5 = Class 100
10.5 but less than 12 = Class 92.5
12 but less than 13.5 = Class 85
13.5 but less than 15 = Class 77.5
15 but less than 22.5 = Class 70
22.5 but less than 30 = Class 65
30 but less than 35 = Class 60
35 but less than 50 = Class 55
50 +  = Class 50
