Do You Require a Lift Gate?

One of the questions your freight agent will ask is if you have a way to load and unload the freight. This can be by the use of a forklift or a loading dock, possibly manpower if you have enough people to help load the freight onto the truck.

If you do not have a way to load or unload the freight, a lift gate will be required. Any shipment weighing over 100lbs, the driver will not be able to pick up without the use of machinery. Lift gates are used to load or unload freight when a loading dock, manpower or forklift are not available. Trucks that come with a lift gate have pallet jacks to help the driver maneuver the customer’s heavy freight. Lift gate fees can be as low as $25.00 depending upon availability and the carrier.

If you will be requiring the use of a lift gate, please let your agent know so they can make sure your quoted rate is accurate.
